The creators of Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed have a new game coming to the PS4 and the PS Vita, and it will be an entirely different experience than the previous game. Akiba’s Beat is a story-focused, action-RPG set in the same town with new characters, new combat, and a very different feel. (If you want to try a game about brawling to remove vampire’s clothes to make them die in the sunshine, Akiba’s Trip: Undead and Undressed is currently on sale on PSN with a decidedly mature rating.)
The game is focused on a potpourri of millenials in Tokyo. In your group of misfits is a nerd, a girl who writes fanfiction, a pop idol, and a gothic lolita to name a few. When you are not talking to the locals to unravel a mystery, you will fight monsters in dungeons known as Delusionscapes. It is party-based combat, and you can control any character in your party of four, while the AI choices you set will control the other three characters.
The game is fully voiced, and you will have your choice of English or Japanese for the game. With 22,000 lines of dialogue, you are going to be meeting some very Chatty Cathy’s.
Akiba’s Beat will be releasing May 16th with an ESRB teen rating.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
