Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed 3 and the former PS Vita exclusive Assassin’s Creed Liberation are getting the remaster treatment, but it comes with a catch.
The remastered pairing will be available as part of the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Season Pass, so if you want to get back to the Americas with Conner and Aveline, you’ll need to stump up the cash for the Season Pass. However, you will be able to buy the games individually once they’ve been available exclusively to Season Pass owners.
That said, you won’t be able to boot up Assassin’s Creed 3 or Liberation on the day of Odyssey’s release. Instead they will be releasing in March 2019. Gives us just enough time to get through Odyssey.
Personally I’m pretty excited about this, perhaps more so than I am about this year’s Odyssey. Assassin’s Creed 3 has long been my favourite game in the series, and Aveline’s adventure was a highlight of my PS Vita gaming years. These won’t just be simple ports, according to Ubisoft, as they’ll both get the 4K treatment on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, while HDR will be available on base PS4.
Ubisoft also states that there will be gameplay improvements in both games, as well as a new graphics engine being used for the duo. Unfortunately there’s no footage of the game’s running on PS4 just yet, but maybe once the hype for Odyssey has died down a bit post release, we’ll get to see what these remasters really look like.
