Babe Ruth Joining MLB The Show 18 as New Gameplay Trailer Released

Babe Ruth needs little introduction on either side of the pond. So it comes as not much of a surprise that the baseball player is joining MLB The Show 18 as part of their legends roster. After all, they don’t come much bigger.

The news accompanies a brand new gameplay trailer that has been released. The video demonstrates how this latest instalment is different to those of yesteryear, boasting more than a handful of changes, whilst also teasing a few other infamous faces who will be joining our man, Babe.

One of the greatest tweaks will come in the form of a physics overhaul, undoubtedly the most important aspect of these kind of games – nobody wants to swing big only for the ball to flop like a hacky sack. There is also a collection of 1,000 new gameplay animations and new home run celebrations. Here’s hoping we can do The Robot…

Road to The Show, Diamond Dynasty, Battle Royale, Conquest, and Franchise Mode will all be making a reappearance, along with:

  • Expansion of Road to the Show
  • Dynamic crowds like Judge’s Chambers
  • Revamped hitting engine with improved physics
  • Rewritten player tagging system
  • More legends

More detail will be shared over the next 60-days as Sony San Diego show off their protégé to the world. This will include a series of Twitch livestream events that are detailed below, all of which start at 2pm Pacific time.

Unsurprisingly, there are a number of pre-order incentives doing the round. And the studio was keen to remind fans of their options on the PlayStation Blog, writing:

When you pre-order, you receive a voucher good for 10 additional Standard Packs and 1 Legend card for The Show 18 when you pick-up or download the game from any retailer.

Pre-order at GameStop and receive an additional 5 Standard Packs and bring your total Standard Packs to 15. Lastly, if you pre-order on PS Store you’ll get 5,000 stubs for MLB The Show 18 and instantly receive an exclusive Aaron Judge Rookie Flashback Card you can use immediately in your copy of MLB The Show 17.

But that’s not all. In addition, MLB The Show 18 now offers early access at Gamestop, PS Store, Target, Walmart, and Best Buy in the United States, and EB Games and Best Buy in Canada. This will allow to you collect/download the game four days early on March 23rd compared to its standard release on March 27th.

Does MLB The Show 18 look like a home run to you? Have you already got your name down to play as Babe? Which legend would you like to see joining the roster? Comments are welcomed below.
