Do you sometimes wish the heyday of classic RPGs would have lasted forever? Do you yearn for a simpler time with simpler graphics and a simple goal of saving the world? Have you heard of Lost Sphear?
Lost Sphear has a free demo available on PS4 in which you can relive a more modern version those glory days on a console that doesn’t need to have dust blown out of it every time it fails.
The story revolves around the character Kanata. He wakes up to find a mysterious mist (the worst kind of mist in our experience) is erasing his town. It is erasing people as well. He and his friends will use Memory powers with a version of the Active Time Battle system to push back the mist and keep the world safe.
The developer Tokyo RPG Factory’s goal is to make these types of classic style RPGs. They are a studio within Square Enix, and their first title was I am Setsuna.
If you like the demo, you can buy Lost Sphear digitally on January 23rd.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
