Dragon Ball FighterZ Adds Beerus and an Open Beta This Weekend

The Dragon Ball anime series is a gateway drug to other anime for many. The intense fights are incredible, decimating entire landscapes, as demi-gods clash in spectacular demonstrations of their awesome power.

Dragon Ball FighterZ seeks to embody that feeling in a 2D fighter, and Beerus is the latest character to receive an announcement trailer. According to the Dragon Ball Wiki, “Beerus (ビルス Birusu) is the God of Destruction of Universe 7. He is accompanied by his martial arts teacher and attendant, Whis. Beerus’ twin brother is Champa, the God of Destruction of Universe 6.” So, he is a cat that comes from a tough neighborhood and a (quite literally) broken home. Watch out!

We also want to remind you that there is an open beta for Dragon Ball FighterZ this weekend (as well as the Dissidia Final Fantasy NT open beta). If you pre-order the game, you can start playing on Saturday, 8:00 AM GMT. Everyone else has to wait exactly one day more. The beta ends on the 16th at 8:00 AM GMT.

We will definitely be checking out the beta. If you are playing against a super (competitive) saiyan this weekend, it could be our fellow writer, Kyle. If you keep beating a button masher who uses the same move over and over, it could be us. At least, let us think we are winning once in a while.

In the comments, let us know your favorite character from the beta. Is there someone newcomers should try? We are asking for a friend.

Bandai Namco Press Release

Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
