Rage 2 won’t ship with any multiplayer features at all when it eventually releases on PS4. The game’s developers, id Software and Avalanche Studios, have revealed in an interview with Eurogamer that the studios are not working on multiplayer.
“We’re just focussed on the best open world single player game that we can make. I personally really believe you can make single player games really fantastic, so that’s what we’re focussed on,” said Magnus Nedfors, Avalanche games designer.
It’s an unusual choice considering that the original Rage had a few different multiplayer options that included co-op. Still, Avalanche hasn’t ever released a multiplayer game so why would we expect them to suddenly start now? Oh, yeah, microtransactions and lootboxes. Fair play, Avalanche!
