After playing Yakuza 0 last year, I have become a Yakuza evangelist. (Goodbye, objectivity!) Yakuza Kiwami 2 has a new trailer, and it gives fans plenty of reasons to look forward to August.
Majima is back, and he is as crazy as ever. The trailer opens with a cage match with Kiryu, but he is in the city breakdance fighting on his own too. Majima’s content is always a little different than Kiryu’s. It was some of the most fun in previous games.
The action doesn’t stop there. You will be fighting on a moving flatbed truck, fighting samurai, and wrecking some poor owner’s bar by dragging a body into every glass on the counter. It looks as if you will even be fighting a tiger. Why not, right?
This remake of the original Yakuza 2 has had a lot of work. The character models have massively more detail, the city has been redone with new textures and lighting, and the whole game has been polished. Watch the trailer, and check out old gameplay on YouTube. It’s a huge difference.
Beyond improvements to the old content, you can expect to see new mini games, a new version of the clan creator centered around Majima Construction, karaoke, hostess clubs, and wacky quests in every corner of the city.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be released on August 28th.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
