FIFA 17 Demo Released Today, Shows Off Story-Based ‘The Journey’ Mode

Get in my son! EA have released a playable demo for FIFA 17, which we recently showed our excitement for in our EA Gamescom roundup. We’ve graciously included a link here to download the demo on any format via EA’s website, or you download it directly through PSN. Check out the above trailer for the new story mode, The Journey, and get the full rundown of the announcement below.

Calling all football fans; FIFA 17 is now downloadable (in demo form) via PSN (as well as for PC and Xbox). The demo is intended to show off the all new ‘The Journey’ mode – a story based campaign that puts the player in the shoes of a young starlet rising to fame, or not, presumably. The new mode is expected to take full advantage of FIFA 17’s use of the Frostbite engine, a first for the franchise.

Unfortunately, the player’s journey must start at Manchester United in the demo; news which has brought those wonderful football rivalries back to the fore among FIFA fans (and caused Pure PlayStation’s Dom O’Leary to refuse to even try it… at least for now).

The demo also features quite a few teams for players to try out in the standard exhibition match mode: Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea FC, Real Madrid C.F., Juventus, Inter, Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique Lyonnais, Seattle Sounders, FC Bayern Munchen, Club Tigres UNAL, or Gamba Osaka, as well as some famous stadiums including Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge. Are you ready to put in some pre-season training?

FIFA ’17 is due for release worldwide on September 29th (North America 27th) on PS4, PS3, PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox one. You can pre-order the game at Amazon UK in its  Standard, Deluxe, and Super Deluxe forms (which come with various gubbins for FIFA Ultimate Team Mode depending on your flavour) as well as other retailers, or get the Deluxe Steelbook Edition exclusively with those drone-loving online giants. Pull out your best swan dive and go down right in the 18-yard box of our comments section below to tell us how excited you are for FIFA, how you like ‘the journey’, or how you want to hurt us (or hug us) for bashing Man Utd!

Dom is a gaming orphan; after his surrogate father SEGA was killed in the console wars, he was adopted by Sony and raised by various PlayStation consoles. He swears he’s not biased in any way though, so that’s good enough for us.
