Total gaming industry sales were down a total of 21% last month in the United States year over year figures show, dropping to $724 million.
Console sales were down a total of 14% and hardware 30%. NPD however announced that the Uncharted 4 PlayStation 4 bundle was once again top of sales.
“The PlayStation 4 was the top-selling hardware system in the month,” NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said. “And for the fifth month running, the PlayStation 4 Slim System 500GB Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Bundle was the month’s top selling console.”
Software wise, For Honor proved victorious in number one whilst Nioh the ninja entered the ranks in ninth.
“Ubisoft’s For Honor was the best-selling game of February 2017 despite having only 12 days in market during the month,” he added. “And two new releases debut in the month’s Top 10: Ubisoft’s For Honor and the PS4 exclusive Nioh, developed by Team Ninja.”
The top ten best-selling games between January 30th and February 25th through physical and digital retailers in the United States were:

- Resident Evil 7 biohazard
- Grand Theft Auto V
- NBA 2K17
- Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
- Rainbow Six Siege
- Madden NFL 17
- Battlefield 1
It should be noted that Battle.net sales weren’t included for Overwatch and neither were digital sales included for Nioh.
March may see an uplift in figures following the release of Horizon Zero Dawn, Nintendo Switch (wash your mouth out) and Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and with the anticipated launch of Mass Effect Andromeda.
