Get Ready for a Flashback; Atari Flashback Classics – Volumes 1 and 2 Are a Coming

Turns out the Nintendo Classic (NES Mini) was not the end of the retro throwback. What’s left of the Atari Corporation, after they filed chapter 11 bankruptcy, and publisher PQube have announced the Atari Flashback Classics – Volumes 1 and 2 for PlayStation 4. They will be released as separate discs and each one will be fifty titles full of classic Atari games. Not only that, but both volumes will have an archive of classic artwork for each game, online multiplayer, trophies, and leaderboards. Probably the best and most realistic dream come true in quite awhile.

We are glad to bring these games to PS4 and Xbox One in Europe with our partners,” said Frédéric Chesnais, CEO of Atari. “These games have been released more than 45 years ago, but there is always something new and exciting about them, and I am sure all players will enjoy them.”

With retro gaming increasing in popularity, it’s great to see more classics get a new lease of life on two of today’s best-selling consoles,” said Andy Pearson, Head of PQube Marketing. “Both games offer fantastic value for money and will help bring popular Atari 2600 video games like Asteroids to a new generation of gamers.

The expected release date is March 31st, but apparently only for Europe. We’ve contacted PQube to see if this collection will make its way to other continents. In the meantime, you can check out the full game listings below for Volumes 1 and 2.
