Madness and Cthulhu are the peanut butter and chocolate of cosmic horror. It seems like most people cannot handle not knowing the line between reality and dangerous hallucinations. A new trailer dropped to show a few moments of mental instability from the upcoming game, and it has creature scares, some body horror, and flashes between different realities.
Beyond the gameplay, the trailer has plenty of outlets giving quotes about the game. You can hallucinate our name in there too, but you will have to wait for our official review to see if Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game drove us to an enjoyable madness or just made us mad.
Based on the pen and paper RPG, you will venture to Darkwater Island as Edward Pierce. Set in 1920s Boston, he is a private eye investigating the death of an artist named Sarah Hawkins. As you might guess, the investigation will lead him to talk to the locals, gather other investigators to his cause, and grapple with the seen and unseen in the game’s sanity mechanics as he explores the dark nooks and crannies of the island.
Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game releases on October 30th.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
