Doom update 6.66 is ready to hit your PS4, and it will not be a curse or the end of the world. In this case, it will unlock all the multiplayer DLC for everyone and remove the need for a season pass. This will let you play as one of a few demons, give you some extra guns (the must-have accessory for anyone planning a trip to hell), and some new maps.
The multiplayer progression system has also been changed. There will now be unlocks at certain levels, and multiplayer will utilize a rune system like the single player campaign instead of the hack modules. The runes will not need to be gained again once they have been unlocked. The new system will also let you work towards specific rewards.
In case you have not had the chance to explode demon guts all over a room, there will be a limited demo running this weekend. You will have access to the first two levels of the campaign, all of multiplayer with all the DLC, arcade mode, and the ability to build your own levels in SnapMap.
Of course, if you like the game, you will be able to buy it at a discounted price. This weekend, you can book your first class trip to hell for only $14.99 (US) / £11.99 (UK) / $17.99 (AUS). Any progress made over the weekend will carry over to the full game, so you can keep glory killing your way through the rest of the game.
We loved Doom, and it was one of our top games of last year. If you have not played it, we strongly recommend you give the fast-paced, gore-filled game a try.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
