Attention! The last few days of July are almost gone, and, as we approach August, the best time of the year for gamers draws near. We will begin to storm the beaches of somewhere in World War II and kill supernatural monsters and generally bad guys as AAA title after AAA title rains down, stretching the limits of our hard drive capacity.
Start training now to be in fighting shape and have the stamina needed to crush your opponents both online and offline. There are multiple fronts under attack from sexy assassins to zombies, and we must prevail. Build a ration stockpile of energy drinks and your favorite fried potatoes for the long march to the end of the year.
We must overcome the onslaught of games ahead of us and realize the only casualty will be our wallets.
Here is our training regimen for the weekend. Let us know in the comments what you will be doing to prepare your body and mind for the next few months.
I’m gonna bust out the PS Vita for a review of Polara. After that, you’ll find me behind the PSVR headset for some Smashbox Arena and some more Superhot VR.
This weekend is stuffed. The Lawbreakers beta is tons of fun, but I have the Dead Alliance beta to occasionally play, Tiny Trax for the PSVR, the NHL 18 beta (yes there are a lot of betas I’m in), and still working on FFXII The Zodiac Age. The story is basically done but like before there’s tons of side stuff. Plus, there’s Netflix which means I just have enough time to sleep for three hours for the next few days.
I will also be sampling some of the many betas going on this weekend, and I will also be working on some games for review. If I have any time outside that, I will look for a new home base in Elite Dangerous. I am not sure I am welcome in a place where I attacked one of their planetary outposts.
Late Addition – Chris Harding
After ruining my sleep by pulling an all nighter then going to work for the whole day, I missed the cut-off for this week’s PP Plays. And for that, I am shamed. This weekend will not be about me having fun with games, but will be about me reclaiming my fallen honor by playing games for reviews. Basically, I’ve got a full day of writing to catch up on, so the games I play will be for review duties. Am I going to tell you what I’m playing? No. Wait for the reviews.
The rest of the Pure PlayStation crew has been sent on a secret mission to stop an international organization dedicated to evil world domination or whatever shadowy organizations do these days. We could tell you, but we would have to kill you.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
