Update: We received confirmation that Q.U.B.E. 2 is not being developed for PSVR, but we will keep an eye on this interesting title.
We have a gameplay demo from Gamescom for Q.U.B.E. 2, and it reminds us a little of Portal 2, except with talking. You are the archaeologist, Amelia Cross, and you are on a strange alien planet. It must not be the paradise from Avatar, because she wants to get home.
As she solves the puzzles, she communicates with Emily. Emily offers her advice, but, since Bioshock, we are always suspicious of people helping us through a radio. We have been hurt too many times.
Different colors on your gloves manipulate the blocks in the world. Some of the blocks will bounce an item, and some will create items. Combining them will help you solve the puzzles in Q.U.B.E. 2, and probably help Amelia survive. Sorry, Amelia. If we are controlling you, your chances of survival will decrease.
If you are watching the demo and thinking this would be perfect for PS VR, we think so too. The developer even mentioned support in 2014 when PS VR was still called Project Morpheus. Since it is not specifically listed in recent marketing, we have reached out to confirm, and we will update this article when we receive a response.
We like the look of Q.U.B.E. 2, and we can never have too many reasons to put on our VR helmets. Although we do not have a release date beyond early 2018, we look forward to seeing if we can use our wits and colorful mittens to survive.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
