Shadow of the Tomb Raider has some very ambitious plans for its DLC. In a new six minute trailer today, they outline some of what you can expect to see in the upcoming releases. One of the biggest things they want is to go deeper into the secondary characters. They will give more of Lara’s story too, but they have characters and a world that they believe still has more to reveal.
There are seven new bits of DLC coming and a new one will drop every month starting in November. The team believes that each part should give you an hour of gameplay. They want it to be new, compelling, and true to Tomb Raider.
What can you expect? First, they are adding more paths. If you start a New Game+ playthrough, you will see three paths already in the game. They offer you new weapons and outfits. The team will add one new path for every DLC and include more outfits, skills, and weapons to increase the amount of customization.
In what I think is the most exciting part of the DLC, they are adding seven new challenge tombs. They were my favorite part of the game and where I think it shone the most. Each one of these tombs will have a narrative mission.
Co-op is the last big announcement. You and a friend will be able to explore those tombs together. It should change the dynamic substantially and help you to avoid dangers a little more easily.
The first part of the DLC, The Forge, drops on November 13th.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
