There’s been a massive gaping hole at Gamescom over the last couple of years, and it’s shaped like a Sony press conference. The platform holder has skipped out on holding a big presser over the last couple of year in favour of showcasing its big announcements at E3 and PSX.
That’s not to say Sony doesn’t have any presence at the biggest German gaming convention; you’ll always find a lot of Sony booths to play the latest upcoming games. This year may go a little differently if what Sony’s Jim Ryan is any indication.
“It would be nice to do something in Europe this year. So that’s something we’re looking at very carefully,” the bigwig told Gamereactor in a short interview. It’s possible, then, that Sony could take to the stage at GamesCom this August, though we’re doubtful; there’s only a couple of months to get everything planned, plus there’s Paris Games Week followed by PSX in December and Sony may not have enough content to hold it over two big shows. Still, we’d love to be proven wrong.
