The Spyro Reignited Trilogy is due to glide on to the PS4 in little over a month. But the Blu-ray will be a little on the light side.
Despite it being a remaster of all three titles, hence the Trilogy part of the name, the disc will in fact launch with only the first game included; the other two will need downloading.
No specific reason has been given for this unusual strategy, made all the more confusing considering there aren’t usually any space qualms when it comes to Blu-ray discs (whereas Nintendo Switch cartridges are another beast altogether). We can therefore only assume the missing games are still in need of a little TLC and Activision have thought better of delaying the entire project. After all, there is a deadline to get the thing to the printers with enough time to print and ship.
Luckily, it appears that we’ll have to do very little in order to gain access to two thirds of the trilogy. From what we can make out, there’ll be no redemption code or special initiation, the whole thing will simply download in a patch when you insert the disc into your console. Still, it’d be nicer just to insert the disc and play. Full stop.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy will launch on September 21st. And we can’t blooming wait!
