Have you heard of the game Strafe? Me neither, but after viewing a few trailers, and allowing nostalgia to take hold, this Pure PlayStation writer is excited for the game’s release. Which is why its a good thing that the company behind the game, Pixel Titans, announced today that it will be launching on PS4 May 9th.
Strafe is a first person shooter that could have been released in the mid 90’s—a fact that is being emphasized in all of the advertising materials—with procedurally generated levels. Its reminiscent of games like Duke Nukem (the good one, not that crap of a game released a few years ago), Doom, and Wolfenstein 3D.
According to Pixel Titans, “You play as a Scrapper on an impossibly dangerous mission at the edge of the galaxy. You only have one life to navigate all the nightmarish terrains of Strafe. When you die, nothing will ever be the same again.”
The game seems to be very tongue and cheek, which is emphasized in their “banned” trailer from the games original Kickstarter campaign back in 2015. I encourage anyone that is not faint of heart (there are naughty words as well as head explosions) to check it out here.
The game was previously released on PC, Mac, and Oculus. The price has not been announced.
