Street Fighter V is probably the last game you’d expect to get in the Christmas mood. After all, a lot of things scream deck the halls more than a kick-ass fighter in a novelty jumper. But Capcom is obviously under the illusion that a little festive cheer is missing from its brawler series as they are introducing a range of Christmas outfits to Street Fighter V. And from what we’ve seen, it’s all a little Bad Santa, not that that’s a bad thing.
These new threads will drop on to consoles next week, granting enough time to cut those virtual carbs before the holidays. But they are not the only be addition to the game as a range of retro clothing will also be launched on the same day. Perhaps they’ll suit the office party?
In total, ten costumes will be launched as DLC. Four are festive, which will grace the birthday suits of Kolin, Alex, Cammy, and Menat. Think Santa hats and cat ears. Meanwhile the retro designs will each have a nostalgic theme, taking us on a trip down memory lane. These will be available for the characters Karin, Birdie, Balrog, and Chun-Li, and are based on costumes from previous installments of the series.
Each outfit will be available from November 29th, and will retail individually at a cost of $4.
This news follows the previous announcement of a re-release hitting shelves next year. Street Fighter V : Arcade Edition will feature new moves for each and every character alongside new play modes and abilities. It is priced at $39.99, but the changes will be free to current owners as an in-game update so don’t worry about having to splash out more wonga or buy another edition. January 16th is currently the planned release date, but we are unsure whether the update and game will launch on the same day, and if the date applies to all regions.
