Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet is releasing on February 23rd, 2018, and we have a fancy new story trailer to convince you to add it to your wish list for next year. Running at slightly less than two minutes, we have some gameplay as well as CG, and it looks snazzy.
The game is set in Gun Gale Online, and Reki Kawahara, the creator, has been helping with the story. Not only can you create your own ambiguously gendered hero, your choices will make a difference in the story. We are hoping for a lot of flexibility here, because our Kirito is a little less averse to doing things the bloodiest way possible.
Using a third person view, the trailer shows Kirito using a variety of guns as well as his trademark
lightsaber sword, Kagemitsu G4. He jumps, dashes, and even uses a rope to pull up to higher areas. That extra mobility will be useful when taking on some of the larger enemies from the trailer, and it looks like some friends from the show will tag along for extra fire support.
Sword Art Online is one of the first anime that really popularized the idea of being stuck in an MMO, and, outside a very weird subplot in season two (Just…why?), was able to capture the essence of the idea and make it fairly interesting.
Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet plans to expand on this idea with single and multiplayer modes. Check out the trailer, and let us know if you are ready to be the hero of your own world.
Bandai Namco Press Release
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
