Sony has announced that the PlayStation 4 was February’s best selling piece of hardware (it even beat the Wii U… wow). That means that by default it’s 2016’s best selling console so far because it also won in January. However, hardware just was’t enough for Sony and they decided they also needed the most software sales, so they went and took that title too. In other words the PlayStation 4 was February’s most sold console and the most games purchased were for it. Here’s what Sony had to say:
We would like to thank our fans and partners for making PlayStation 4 the top-selling hardware platform and the software sales leader in February, according to NPD. We continued to see strong year-over-year sales growth for PS4 hardware and software and are truly humbled by the support and enthusiasm from gamers. We will continue to deliver amazing gaming experiences with the upcoming launches of Ratchet & Clank, MLB The Show 16 and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
As they’re keen to point out they have a strong line-up of games coming out in the next month or two, such as Uncharted 4 and MLB The Show 16, so they should be able to come out on top in March and April too. Although the Xbox One also has a few tricks up its sleeve such as Quantum Break, which will launch on the 5th of April.
Conor is Pure PlayStation’s resident Irishman. Naturally that means he’s constantly slurring his words and turning up stinking of Guiness with a potato in his pocket. It’s not all bad though, because Conor is also a PlayStation nut. When he’s not doing his best Father Jack impression (Father Ted, watch it) he’s got a DualShock 4 in his hand and a Vita in the other. Yeah, we don’t know how he manages it either.
