Well, here’s one we didn’t really see coming: Respawn Entertainment has teamed up with EA to produce a third-person Star Wars game. If that’s not triggered anything in your brains, don’t worry, we’re here to help.
EA already has a third-person Star Wars action game in the works with Viceral Games (studio behind Battlefield: Hardline) and so it’s a surprise to see that another studio is making another one in addition to the first one, which hasn’t even been properly revealed yet.
Patrick Söderlund, Executive Vice President of EA Studios, wrote on the EA news site to announce the partnership between the developers of Titanfall 2.
“Today, I’m thrilled to be able to announce that EA and the talented team at Respawn Entertainment have expanded our relationship to include the development of an all-new 3rd person action adventure game set in the Star Wars universe. They join our other great studios – Visceral Games, DICE, Capital Games, BioWare, Motive and more – who are currently working on Star Wars projects. If you’re interested in joining us on this adventure, you can visit our Careers page – we have openings at Visceral and Motive and will be sharing more on these experiences soon.”
Don’t expect to see or hear anything massive about this game for a while. As we understand it, the game has barely left the paper-planning stages so it’s unlikely we’ll see any screenshots, trailers or other footage for at least a year. Hey, if we’re wrong, we’ll make our own Star Wars game.
