Giant Sparrow, the studio that brought us the remarkable The Unfinished Swan, is set to drop their next project, the equally unique What Remains of Edith Finch on April 25. You’ll play as Edith Finch as she explores the history of her family and tries to figure out why she’s the last Finch still alive. The game plays as a set of short stories, with each story focusing on a different member of Edith Finch’s family. Aside from playing each story in the first person perspective, the stories are as unique at the family member themselves with timelines ranging from the early 1900’s to the present day.
In true Giant Sparrow form, each story ends with the death of the family member, but it will hopefully also shed some light on the strange family curse. The team at Giant Sparrow describe What Remains of Edith Finch as “…a game about what it feels like to be humbled and astonished by the vast and unknowable world around us.”
While it may not be the feel-good-hit of the summer, it is surely worth a play-through if you love a good story. Pick it up this Tuesday and let us know what you think of it in the comments below.
