Prepare to wake up in a fantasy world that’s involved in a brutal war. Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception will hit PlayStation 4s on May 23rd. To go alongside this announcement, developer Atlus has revealed a story trailer of its title. You take control of Haku, a man who suddenly finds himself in an unfamiliar setting and incidentally gets involved in a great battle between two countries. Except he’s more of a strategist rather than a fight. Still he’s enlisted by the Yamato nation to help protect innocent civilians from certain death. You can check out the trailer above.
The title will offer a visual novel experience that lasts anywhere from forty to fifty hours and utilizes an active SRPG battle system. (If you couldn’t tell by the footage you just watched.) It will cost 49.99 €/£39.99 both physically and digitally. Also, the direct sequel, Mask of Truth, will be available later in the year with English text and Japanese audio intact.
Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception is being developed by Atlus. A widely acclaimed developer behind the likes of Catherine, the Persona series, and the Shin Megami Tensai series to name a few. Are you excited for the hard to pronounce SRPG? Let us know in the comments below!
