On March 6th, Sony launched a multi-view feature for their cable streaming service called Playstation Vue. This feature will allow PS Vue subscribers to watch up to three live channels on one screen at the same time.
According to Dan Myers, Head of Product for the PS Vue, subscribers will be able to watch multiple live games at once and “you can also use this feature for any live TV channel available on PS Vue, such as watching a mix of live news programs or live events at once.”
In order to use this feature, Myers stated, “Press and hold X on any live TV program from the Guide or Live TV row of the home screen to open up the selection screen for multi-view. A menu will pop up to give you an option of using either two or three multi-view screens. You can select any other live programing from the Live TV strand and start viewing multiple programs at once. The main screen in multi-view will contain audio of the programming.”
Switching between screens is also simple. According to Myers, after creating a multi-view session, if the viewer wants to switch between screens, they press the square on their controller. If they want to choose a specific screen to switch, they need to highlight that specific screen and press square.
Myers goes on to say that two more features are coming soon for the PS Vue. They will be adding “real-time” scores as well as an option to turn off spoiler alerts for other games the viewer may not have seen yet.
This new feature seems to be a useful addition for sports fans that don’t want to miss any of the excitement when game times overlap.
