The Witcher 3 getting PS4 Pro support was supposed to be a great thing. It was supposed to be a little gift to all PS4 Pro owners that had a copy of CD Projekt’s The Witcher 3. That wasn’t the case, unfortunately, as it seems the PS4 Pro update date more harm than good.
Since the release of the PS4 Pro update for the game, players have been swarming message boards and social media with complaints. The biggest and most frequently reported issue is that The Witcher 3 keeps crashing on PS4 Pro, but only since having the new update installed.
Thankfully, CD Projekt Red is working on a new update that will hopefully fix whatever is causing the game to freeze up and frustrate players. The studio told Eurogamer the following:
“We are aware of the issues some users have been experiencing following the PS4 Pro Patch and we are looking into addressing those as soon as possible.”
While it may be a total pain in the neck for players, we still have to give CD Projekt credit where it’s due. The Witcher 3 was a critical and commercial success, and the studio supported the game with lots of free download content – something rarely seen in today’s gaming landscape – and the studio even reversed its statement regarding PS4 Pro support. The Polish studio originally stated that there would not be a PS4 Pro patch, yet here we writing about it. Granted, it’s not great news, but the fact that the firm is still working to support its game is admirable. All too often we see games release and have support dropped far too soon.
Naturally we will let you know when the update is out, so stick with Pure PlayStation and we’ll keep you in the loop.
