SEGA had a couple of announcements to make today, one of which was already leaked thanks to some dozy plonker working on the Taiwanese PlayStation Store. That announcement was Yakuza Kiwami 2 for PS4.
SEGA confirmed that the game is a remake of the original Yakuza 2 that originally released on PS2 over a decade ago, and that the remake will feature completely new visuals thanks to the developers making use of the latest version of the Dragon Engine – the very same tech that powers Yakuza 6 on PS4.
It’s not just the visuals that are getting an update. SEGA confirmed that the audio would be redone to bring it up to current day standards, as well as some changes to the gameplay and story itself.
If you happen to be in Japan later this year, you can play the game at this year’s Tokyo Game Show where SEGA will also have more information on Yakuza Fist of the North Star, another announcement from today.
As of yet, there’s no confirmed release for the west. Yakuza Kiwami 2 will release on December 7th in Japan, so you could import it or use a Japanese PSN account, though it might be worth brushing up on your Japanese reading and listening skills first…
