Publisher Dangen Entertainment and developer LABS Works have released Astalon: Tears of the Earth onto PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC today.
Astalon: Tears of the Earth takes place in a post-apocalyptic desert where three heroes go on a vigilante mission to save their village. To ensure their success whilst taking on the Tower of Serpents, our three explorers have made a pact with the Titan of Death, Epimetheus, that will allow them to reincarnate and get stronger each time they die. On the PlayStation Store, the game is priced at £16.99/$19.99.
From the onset, Astalon: Tears of the Earth have very distinct visuals, and this comes as no surprise as Dragon Half manga creator Ryusuke Mita is behind the character designs.
Over at the PlayStation Blog, lead developer Matt Kap goes into further detail about how the game takes a lot of inspiration from Mad Max and Fist of the North Star.
“Despite looking like a normal fantasy setting, it’s actually a deep, post-apocalyptic world, with a lot of inspiration taken from things like Mad Max and Fist of the North Star. There are also things loosely-based on Greek Mythological gods and creatures, something that has interested me since childhood,” says lead developer Matt Kap.
