Looking for your next action-RPG fix? Then look no further as Square Enix has today released ONINAKI onto the PlayStation Store across the world, and what’s more is that you can try the game out before pledging your money. How odd, right? There was a time when demos were the norm, but these days it’s breaking news. Sad, really.
ONINAKI is an action-RPG that tells the story of Kagachi, a young Watcher who must usher the Lost Souls into the next world. Sounds a bit grim. Along the way he meets a mysterious girl (haven’t we all…) and his fate becomes entwined with blood and death. Told you this was grim, and mysterious girls are to be avoided about 94% of the time, lest you find yourself in an anime.
There’s everything you could want from an action-RPG. You’ve got customisable skill trees, fast and furious action-RPG mechanics (no sign of The Rock) and a mysterious story that’ll keep you trucking for many an hour.
Of course, given that this is a brand new, unproven franchise for Square Enix, the publisher is hoping to lure players in with the free demo. So before you go blindly throwing your money at your favourite buzzwords, give the demo a run and then decide if it’s worth your time and money. Before any of that, though, check out the launch trailer up above.
