Now that Call of Duty isn’t selling map packs to its players, Activision is doubling down on next-gen players by stinging their wallets for next-gen upgrades.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, which was arguably one of the best games of 2020, will be getting the next-gen update treatment. But, this is an Activision-published game, so yes, you’ll be paying for it even if you already own the game on PS4. Kind of. It depends on which version you’ve got.
If you own the Digital Deluxe edition of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 on PS4, you’ll get the upgrade at no extra cost. However, if you’re a standard edition chump who only wanted to pay a regular price for their game, you’ll be stung with a £10/$10 fee to upgrade to the PS5 version of the game.
Here’s what you’re getting for your money:
- 120 FPS @1080p
- Native 4k @60FPS
- SSD & Immediacy
- Haptic feedback via the DualSense wireless controller
- Spatialized Audio
- High Fidelity Atmospherics
- Activities and Game Help
- Cross-Gen Progression
The game will also have improved dynamic shadows, reflections, lens flare, and enhanced skater textures. Whether that’s all worth £10/$10 is for you to decide.
And obviously, I’m sitting on the side of ‘no’ on this one. What the hell are “High Fidelity Atmospherics” anyway? Is a shaman going to come to my house and light some “high fidelity” incense candles?
