Apex Legends has proven quite the hit since it dropped last year. So, maybe it comes as no surprise to hear that the game will be making its way on to the PlayStation 5. After all, games like these try to target as many formats as they can to increase their user base to its maximum. And that tactic will only continue as we venture into the next generation of hardware.
However, I can’t help but wonder how the increased technical capability will influence this genre. Both this and Fortnite could push the boat out a little, if they wanted to that is. But then again, some things are perfect the way they are and there’s no point in fixing what isn’t broken.
The rumour comes from a job posting that was spotted by the eagle eyed writers at GamesRadar whereby Respawn themselves said they’re seeking a senior rendering engineer who is able “to push next-gen platforms and the PC to their limits on Apex Legends”. So, what else could that refer to but the Playstation 5?
Interestingly, the advert also sounds rather ambitious in its plan as they state they’re looking to push these new platforms to their limit. That is fighting talk, if you ask me, and could see the game getting an overhaul of some sort – either in looks or in expanse. Personally, I don’t think they’ll spend too much time or money on amping up the graphics as it’s something that makes the game ‘Apex Legends’. Therefore, I can only conclude there will be more modes and larger battles. Not to mention, more emphasis placed on the eSports side of things.
That is the future, after all, just as the battle royale trend has proven itself.
