It is a good day to be a PlayStation VR owner. With Sci-fi Shooter Farpoint and the PS VR Aim Controller only a few days away, Vertigo games has finally announced the worst kept secret in the Virtual Reality market: Their award-winning VR zombie shooter Arizona Sunshine is officially coming to Sony’s VR headset, and it will be here next month! If that news isn’t good enough for you, they also confirmed that it will be compatible with Sony’s newest peripheral, the Aim Controller.
For the uninitiated, Arizona Sunshine is a VR shooter that drops you into the middle of blistering hot, post-apocalyptic Arizona. As you traverse the unforgiving desert, cross treacherous caverns and explore deep mines, you’ll have to fend off hordes of zombies as you search for other survivors. Along with your hunt for fellow warm bodies, you’ll also need to loot gear, ammo and food.
Arizona Sunshine is no one or two-hour virtual reality “experience” that quickly loses its charm. The campaign boasts eight diverse levels that you can take on solo or with a friend in the co-op mode. There is also an infinite game mode that pits you and up to three other players against an endless wave of the undead. While you can play the game with dual pistols using both Move controllers and utilizing teleportation movement, if you choose to play with the Aim Controller you are relegated to a single weapon, but the vaguely gun-shaped controller provides improved accuracy and, best of all, the ability to utilize full locomotion movement via the Aim Controller’s dual analog sticks. In other words, you can freely explore your surroundings in whichever mode you prefer.
Are you on the fence regarding the PSVR? If so, is the combination of Farpoint and Arizona Sunshine enough to make you take the plunge? Let us know if you’re ready to pull the proverbial (and literal) trigger in the comments below.
