ARK Park Announced for PS4/PSVR, Coming 2017

ARK: Survival Evolved recently released on PS4 – though it probably could have done with more time in the oven – yet the game’s developer has already announced a spin-off title for the PSVR: ARK Park.

Writing over on the PlayStation Blog, executive producer Sky Wu of Snail Games laid out the premise: explore a Jurassic Park-style world full of dinosaurs. According to the blog post, players will be able to explore in different manners. So maybe one area will have you wandering around on foot, whereas the other will have you actually riding a dinosaur. You’ll be able to take pictures and unlock little facts as you progress, as well as solve puzzles, partake in action moments, and manage resources.

To be fair, it sounds really, really interesting. However, we’re just not all that confident that the developer is up to the task; ARK: Survival Evolved is possibly the worst-running game on PS4. The game runs at sub-HD resolution and has some of the worst frame-rates we’ve ever seen on a PS4 release. We’re still looking forward to this, but we’ll be keeping our expectations in check.

There’s no solid release date as of yet, just a promise that the game will release in 2017 at some point. There’s a trailer up above that looks the part, so give it a look and see what you think.

What do you reckon? Is this one to look out for, or will you be avoiding this like a T-Rex’s mouth? Stomp around in the comments section below.
