On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
Ubisoft’s post-release support is legendary at this point – older games are still being shown the love with post-release updates, and while Assassin’s Creed Valhalla might be the most recent game in the series, it hasn’t stopped Ubisoft from going further back and improving an older game in the series.
Ubisoft has released a new update for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey that gets the game running at that sweet 60fps frame rate. However, this is only for next-gen consoles. So if you own Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and also have a PS5 or an Xbox Series X|S, you can update the game and start playing at 60fps on your next-gen console.
That’s pretty cool, and especially now when more of us are used to 60fps – for me, anything less is just not cutting the mustard these days – it’s a great incentive to go back and play an older game for the first time, or maybe go back in and mop up some of the remaining trophies.
Assassin’s Creed games running at 60fps isn’t anything new on consoles at this point, but this is the first time that Ubisoft has manually gone back into a game and updated it. Previously, Assassin’s Creed Unity, Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered, Rogue, and the Ezio Collection all got updated to 60fps on Xbox Series X|S via Microsoft’s FPS Boost mode. Those games, sadly, are not 60fps on PS5, but there’s hope yet that Ubisoft may be in the process of working through its back catalogue. We’ll have to wait and see.
