With next-gen literally around the corner, it’s time to start getting ready. If you’re anything like me, you’ve already cleared some space for the PS5, gotten rid of old games that are taking up valuable space, and have a few pennies put to the side for the eventual pre-order window that will release.
But what about accessories? Sure, Sony and Microsoft will both be peddling their accessories alongside their shiny new gaming machines, but let’s be real; most of the time these things are just a step above OK, but far below professional.
If you want to have the best audio experience, you’re probably going to want to look at getting a third-party headset, developed and manufactured by experts in their field. I know I’m a convert after previously never bothering with headphones. Now, I can’t really play without them.
Audeze has experience in bringing audio to life with their range of headphones, and the company is preparing for the PS5 and Xbox Series X with a brand new headset called the Penrose.
This headset can be used with either the PS5 or the Xbox Series X, depending on which version you buy. And going off of previous testimonials for their products, I think it’s safe to say that the Penrose will be another top-of-the-line headset. Plus, coming in fairly early (the headsets are scheduled to ship in early September) they’ll be one of the few high-quality headsets available when the new consoles eventually release.
We’re looking into getting our hands on some other Audeze headphones to get a real idea of what’s to come, but in the meantime, you can check out the Penrose headset over on the official Audeze website, and even pre-order your unit ahead of release.

Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
