Back 4 Blood will be taking replayability to the next level with its A.I Game Director working behind the scenes.
Warner Bros. Games and Turtle Rock Studios have released a brand new trailer for the upcoming zombie co-op shooter Back 4 Blood, and it’s a doozy. Of course, it’s as gory and violent as one could hope for, but it’s also quite informative.
The trailer shows off Back 4 Blood’s card system, where the A.I Game Director will deal cards at the start of a game. These cards won’t be good for you, the player, as they’ll add challenges, conditions, and tweaks to how the game plays out. You’ll fight to survive until it’s your turn to deal some cards of your own, giving you and your team an edge in the fight against the zombies and the A.I Game Director.

The A.I Game Director works behind the scenes, logging player health, actions, and more in order to determine what should be thrown their way next. A little like Left 4 Dead, then; in Left 4 Dead, if you’re taking your sweet time and just having a leisurely stroll, the game’s A.I Director will throw a fresh horde of zombies at you, and maybe even a tank. Back 4 Blood is doing a similar thing, but more refined with modern technology.
Back 4 Blood is set to release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on October 12th, 2021
