Following the unveiling of its multiplayer trailer, it has now been announced that the Battlefield V open beta will kick off on September 6th. But early access is available, if you happen to meet the criteria. Don’t worry, we’re not talking timed mile runs and press ups. Yet.
Pre-loading begins three days prior – September 3rd at 8am UTC. But if you have a pre-order or are a subscriber of EA Access, Origin Access, or Origin Access Premier, then you can get trigger happy from the 4th.
So, what can you get involved in? Well, how does a 64 person mode sound, set in Amsterdam or frosty Norway? These two maps will be playable in Conquest, which sees you battling to take control of important sectors through the use of new towable weaponry and fortifications. A new squad reinforcement system has also been implemented.
But that is not all, as they went on to explain.
Two “days” of Grand Operations are also available to players in the Open Beta. In this modular narrative experience inspired by historical events, each day is represented by a round of play, and player actions have a direct impact on the next round. Up to 64 players can deploy in the Airborne and Breakthrough modes on the Arctic Fjord map.
A Quick Ride on the Tides of War
A preview of the Tides of War — the ever-evolving journey through WW2 featuring a new narrative every few months — also awaits players in September. Each chapter of Tides of War is designed to focus on an aspect of the era, with unique gameplay experiences to drive players forward.
Completion of the Tides of War chapter will earn gamers an exclusive in-game Dog Tag when the full game launches in October. There’s an incentive if we’ve ever seen one.
The blog post also reiterates the importance of keeping half an eye on the official news page, which you can find here. But don’t worry if you’re distracted because we’ve got you covered, so just keep an eye on us.
Are you excited to deploy in this more traditional offering by the franchise in Battlefield V? Or are you counting the rounds until we’re back battling in zero-g?
