There’s only a month and a bit to go before we can all play through Black Ops 4’s story mo – oh, right, yes, erm, online multiplayer. Remember: Black Ops 4 is shipping without a story mode, a first for the Call of Duty franchise. And no, I’m not happy about it.
The big news today is that Activision and Treyarch have released a brand new trailer for the game’s Blackout mode, which is Treyarch’s take on the battle royale genre, though it’ll have fewer players-per-match than other games. The new trailer is embedded up above and it gives us a look at fan favourite characters, including the original Black Ops’ Frank Woods.
We can also see the vehicular combat in action, as well as the typical run and gun gameplay. To be fair, it actually looks like a lot of fun. I’m personally not that interested in the battle royale genre, but even I have to say that I wouldn’t giving Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode a go.
Then there’s the beta. The trailer states that the Black Ops 4 PS4 beta will start at 10am on September 10th, and end at 10am on September 17th. The bad news is that this demo – c’mon, we all know it’s a demo – will only be available to those who pre-order the game. You can either pre-order Black Ops 4 on the PlayStation Store, or order a physical copy here via Amazon.
Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
