The beta has yet to begin for Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 yet there are already new bits of information coming out about the game, thanks to Game Informer’s recent time with the game developers.
As we all know, Black Ops 4 is ditching the traditional single-player campaign to instead focus on the multiplayer aspect of the game. To give more value to the online component, Treyarch is including a battle royale mode called Blackout.
Treyarch has been characteristically coy when it comes to the specifics, but it as now been confirmed that Black Ops 4’s Blackout battle royale mode won’t have as many players as other battle royale games. Instead of going for the standard 100 players, Treyarch is starting with 80 players. It’s a 20% difference, sure, but in reality you’re probably not going notice any difference anyway. Like, how many other players do you ever see in Fortnite or PUBG?
Treyarch’s Dan Bunting said:
“What’s really more important to us than a number is that the gameplay experience is as refined as it can be, that’s it the ideal perfect format for what players are going to play. So we’re starting with 80 players, but we’ve gone higher than that.”
Like with any modern game, Black Ops 4 is subject to change after release. There could well be updates in the future that alter the player count to include more competitors, or even lower it for other game modes. Personally, I’m not arsed either way.
Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
