England independent developer PaperSeven just released Blackwood Crossing, their first major release, today on the PlayStation. The first person adventure game explores the relationship between Scarlett and Finn, orphaned siblings growing apart as Scarlet enters adolescence. Their ordinary train ride “evolves into a magical story of life, love and loss” when the two siblings cross paths with a mysterious figure.
You’ll play as Scarlet throughout an ever-changing world filled with magic and complex puzzles. Alice Guy, co-founder of PaperSeven had this to say: “We’re thrilled to see Blackwood Crossing finally hit the stores, and hope players feel as connected to Finn and Scarlett’s story as we do. Our goal was to build a world with a unique character, a world grounded in surreal magic that confounds player expectations. We wanted to create a dreamlike logic, where fantastical events make perfect sense within the context of the game.”
It looks like PaperSeven has created just that. Check out the release trailer above to see for yourself.
