This weekend will host the first public testing of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Specifically, its Alpha programme. And, in order to ensure you’re ready for when the first shots are fired, the software is available to download now. So, go and arm your consoles.
The test will run for the entire weekend – starting tomorrow – giving plenty of Brits the perfect excuse to stay in over the Bank Holiday. Unfortunately for them, though, the weather is actually looking nice for both Saturday and Sunday meaning their other halves may have an alternative itinerary planned. Still, the relationship was nice whilst it lasted, right?
In total, five maps will be made available for the 2 v 2 mode, itself entitled Gunfight. And no PlayStation Plus subscription is needed, so everyone is a potential Corporal Bug Finder. But don’t forget it’s only a small taste at what’s to come; there’ll be a few more multiplayer modes in the full release come October, according to the Alpha’s description.
Over on the PlayStation Store, the 2 v 2 feature is described as:
– Small team, multi-round cage matches. First duo to reach the round win limit is victorious.
– This is a four-player, two-versus-two game mode.
– It features a series of custom-made, confined maps the smallest of those present in Multiplayer.
– Gunfight is just one element, there is a ton of more content – modes, maps and overall goodness coming to the Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® Multiplayer experience.
The free Alpha test is around 22GB in size and runs from August 23rd to 25th. But will you be battling through?
