Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Street Date Broken, Day-One Update is Avoidable By Playing Offline

The street date for Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been broken, at least for the PS4 version of the game, meaning that spoilers will no doubt be floating around the internet soon enough. If you don’t want the single-player story ruined, you’re best off avoiding any Call of Duty: Modern Warfare threads on Reddit, Twitter and Facebook.

Some will remember that Call of Duty: WWII had its street date broken, too, though the game wasn’t playable without the day-one update. There were fears that the day-one update would be required to run Call of Duty: Modern Warfare before release, but it seems that’s not the case. The simple workaround is easy: just disconnect your PS4 console from the internet. So if you manage to get your hands on the game early, disconnect from the internet and you’ll be alright. Just don’t go paying through the nose for an early copy; it’s out in, like, five days anyway. Don’t be silly.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will release on PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 25th, 2019. PS4 players get a small slice of exclusive content, which you can read about here.
