New CRPGs have come to the PS4 in the form of Pillars of Eternity and the Divinity games, but the games that served as the inspiration and foundation for those games are also coming to the PS4. The savior of Telltale’s final season of The Walking Dead, Skybound Games, has partnered with Beamdog to deliver six classic CRPGs to the PS4 this year.
The games were titans of their day. They include Baldur’s Gate, Baldur’s Gate II, Baldur’s Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, and Planescape: Torment. The version released will be the enhanced versions of the games, so expect some improvements if you only played the originals. Even though they are already on PC, it will be nice to have the convenience of the PS4.
This is only a preliminary announcement, so that’s all we know for now. If you are looking for more Dungeons and Dragons in your life, keep checking back with us, and we’ll let you know when these adventures will be available.
Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
