THQ’s classic first-person shooter for the PS2, Red Faction, is coming to the PS4 as a PS2 re-release, as revealed by the PEGI ratings board.
The ratings authority has recently awarded the game as being suitable for those over the age of 16, so if you’re just a wee kid, you’re going to have to wait a few years. Or just get mum and dad to bend the rules a bit… C’mon, it’s hardly the pinnacle of gore and violence for goodness sake.
Red Faction originally released back in 2001, and back then it was really something special due to the GeoMod engine that the game was built on which allowed players to blow just about anything up. So you could take your rocket launcher and completely level a building if you so wished. It might not seem so impressive these days, but back then it was groundbreaking stuff, truly.
It’ll be interesting to see how Red Faction has aged over the last fifteen years, and we’ll no doubt be bringing our impressions and gameplay videos when the game releases.
