Conan the Barbarian is still a thing, much to my surprise, and there’s even a new game coming out featuring the steroid-chomping monster of a man. However, it’s not what you’d expect. The bulging muscles have been traded for noodle arms and a cutesy demeanour, quite unbefitting of Arnie’s big Hollywood movie.
Conan Chop Chop, from developer Mighty Kingdom and publisher Funcom, will be releasing Q2 2020 on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC, after originally being penned in for a February 25th, 2020 release date. At the moment, there’s no solid release date, just the release window. Still, if you’re looking for a daft 1-4 player hack and slach rogue-lite, it’s worth keeping an eye out for this one.
The reason for the delay is to give the developers more time to bring Conan and his buddies up to scratch to ensure that us players have the best possible time chopping and, er, chopping when it finally does release.
“We are almost at the finish line. The additional time is to ensure that the game is optimized for online multiplayer, and to give us a chance to add some polish here and there. It’s basically all about getting that final Chop in place,” says Mighty Kingdom CEO Philip Mayes, adding that, “This isn’t merely a one-chop game. This is Conan Chop Chop, and that necessitates extra attention to detail.”
