Crash Bandicoot 4 PS5 Upgrade Remains Unavailable For Some Digital European Players [Updated]

Update: The issue with upgrading Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time from the PlayStation 4 version to the free PlayStation 5 version has now been resolved (17/03/2021). However, do get in touch with Activision if the issue persists. Or maybe just send your thanks if all is now working as it should.

Original: Activision is yet to release an update on this issue, having last spoken out at the start of the weekend. But a number of digital players in Europe are unable to take advantage of Crash Bandicoot 4’s free PlayStation 5 upgrade. Instead, when they go in search of the option, they find nothing is there.

In an issue that sounds an awful lot like that of Yakuza: Like A Dragon, some players in Europe are unable to upgrade Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time to the PlayStation 5 version. From current reports, it seems to only be affecting owners of the digital version of the game. But Activision don’t have much to say on the matter and the problem remains unsolved three days on.

The company issued a statement just before the weekend, saying

“We’re actively investigating an issue where some players are having problems upgrading their version of #Crash4 from PS4 to PS5. Stay tuned for updates.”

However, players have woken up today (Monday 15th March) to see no updates have yet been issued. So, either the team have taken the two days off to do a little gaming of their own or this is a little trickier to sort out than previously thought.

That little snippet of information was released in the form of a Tweet. But strangely enough, you now can’t reply to that posting, meaning the comms channel between consumer and publisher has been cut. All that’s left for us to do is bang our heads against some wooden crates, keep ourselves energised with Wumpa Fruit and possibly ask Aku Aku to work his magic.

But we’ll keep you updated on any progress we become aware of, too, which is far more helpful than my last sentence.
