Crash Bandicoot might just be the only marsupial to win an award, so it’s hardly surprising that he’s very enthusiastic to show it off. That’s why you’re going to see the furry recipient posing with his silverware on the main menu of Crash Team Racing Nitro-fuelled. And he’ll be rubbing your face in it from tomorrow.
Just in case you’ve missed the news, Mr Bandicoot was awarded a prize for the best sport/racing game at last year’s The Game Awards. And it’s hardly surprising. The PSOne remake is a class act in the genre, and one of this writer’s favourite games of recent times.
Yes, I missed it the first time round – unfortunately, when you’re still learning to tie up your laces, game selection is at the mercy of your folks. But that doesn’t impact how much I enjoyed it. It doesn’t feel outdated, the graphics are lively, the tracks are varied, the action is fast and the karts are responsive. Not to mention, the drift function is very fruitful – once you’ve put Mario Kart’s influence behind you; it’s not as much of a nuisance as people make out, just different.
And there’s nothing wrong with that. Something that Geoff Keighley himself is aware of.
He tweeted a preview of Crash’s gloating, which is a great way for the studio to express their appreciation. You can take a peek below.
Meanwhile, let us know which kart game comes out top in your opinion – maybe it’s Hello Kitty or SpongeBob!
