The opening cinematic that will start your adventure in Cris Tales is absolutely stunning and beautiful. It even features a frog with a top hat and bow tie. Seriously, what is there not to like?
Classic RPG titles have heavily influenced Cris Tales, such as Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger, but the game has also been inspired by modern classics such as Bravely Default. You play as Crisbell, who can jump from the past, present and future of the Crystallis’ kingdoms to help out citizens and surprise attack your opponents.
However, if you want to save your magical kingdom from the impending threat, you’ll have to utilize your powers of jumping through time periods to reshape the future and achieve the true ending. On your quest to save your fairy tale world, you’ll forge powerful allies such as Matias the Frog and Willhelm the Child Mage.
At first glance, Cris Tales seems promising as it inspires to be a love better to classic JRPGs with a modernized twist, accompanied with a beautiful coat of hand-drawn 2D animation. The game will also apparently feature over 20 hours’ worth of content.
Cris Tales will be heading to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on July 20.
