In case you haven’t been inundated with this news already, CD Projekt Red made an announcement on Twitter today to delay Cyberpunk 2077 to December 10th. (Full image at bottom.) This 21 day delay will help the developers deliver the best game possible, and, with everyone working from home, it’s a tall order. It’s further complicated by the transition to next-gen. The version of the game must be compatible with three flavors of PlayStation (PS4, PS4 Pro, and PS5), four versions of the Xbox, PC, and Stadia.
For those of you wondering, the game went gold, but that’s not the end. The team will be working on improvements for the “Day 0 patch” and continue to increase the quality of the final product. In a very honest confession, the announcement says the time needed was “undercalculated”, but they still “have an amazing game.” This decision was one of the “hardest ones”, but will “lead to you getting a video game you’ll fall in love with.”
This was obviously a difficult decision, but we know about delays by now. It’s disappointing, but I want to play the best version of Cyberpunk 2077 available on launch. There’s been too much hype to be let down by a buggy game. If that means I have to wait, I’m not bothered.

Jason became terminally addicted to videogames after receiving the NES at an early age. This addiction grew to include PC gaming and was cemented with the launch of the PS2. From then on, he was afflicted with epic RPGs, tense shooters, and deep strategy games, never becoming skillful, but never able to quit. He continues to play games (poorly) and share his passion for them to anyone willing to listen.
