I love demakes. Or I love to look at them. I doubt I would be able to sit and play an actual remake for more than a few minutes, but they are good fun to see, and I have massive respect for those who take the time out of their day to create these snippets to satiate our morbid curiosity.
A brilliant remake that I’ve just stumbled across is Cyberpunk 1997, which is a remake of CD Projekt Red’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. Obviously.
The video, which you can watch up above, shows us what Cyberounk would maybe look like if the game was releasing in 1997 on Sony’s original PlayStation, complete with a GTA 2 inspired top-down perspective, though with some first-person thrown in for good measure.
The clip starts off in first-person mode with the “player” moving around their in-game apartment before moving outside where the perspective shifts to the top-down view that has long been abandoned by Rockstar.
What’s even more impressive is that it was all created inside Media Molecule’s upcoming Dreams. It amazes me that some people can create such brilliant stuff using the tools put out there, and I can barely make it through the tutorials…

Chris has been writing about gaming news for far too long, and now he’s doing it even more. A true PlayStation know-it-all, Chris has owned just about every Sony console that ever existed. Trophies are like crack to this fella. (Bronze trophies, that is – he only has one Platinum.)
